On 4 June 1996, the Moroccan artist Ahmed Sanoussi (previously
written as “Snoussi”) was physically assaulted by police in Rabat

graduate university students. Sanoussi had to be later taken to
hospital after being seriously wounded and left unconscious.
Recommended Action
Send appeals to authorities:
expression as guaranteed by the Moroccan Constitution and by
Article 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political
Rights that the Moroccan government has ratified
to investigate the circumstances of the assault and also to
identify those responsible
