**Updates IFEX alerts dated 21 and 19 June 1996**
RSF is concerned about the continued detention of Lebanese
journalist Ali Diya, a correspondent for the French news agency
Agence France Presse (AFP), the Lebanese daily “As-Safir” and the
Lebanese television channel Future TV in the part of southern
Lebanon under Israeli occupation. Diya is reportedly being held at
Kishon prison, Haifa. Although he is no longer kept in solitary
confinement and his lawyer has been allowed to visit him, a court
has ordered that he remain in prison up to and including 17 July
1996 and the charges against him have still not been specified.
RSF has received no replies from Israeli authorities to its
repeated inquiries.
