On 5 July 1996, seven armed men held up Fabiola Cancino de los
Santos (f) at gunpoint at her Mexico City home. Fabiola Cancino de
los Santos, a journalist with the daily “El Universal Grafico”,
was in her home with family members, when the assailants forced
their way in. They searched the entire house and took some
valuables, before asking who among those present was Fabiola. Once
her identity was confirmed, one of the men told her: “If you
continue writing those little news reports, we’ll kill you.” (“Si
sigues haciendo esos reportajitos te vamos a matar”.)
Fabiola Cancino de los Santos has written several articles on
social problems in Mexico City.
