In the run-up to the presidential elections in Venezuela on 28 July 2024, IFEX and member organisations IPYS Venezuela and Espacio Público launched an awareness-raising campaign to express our concern about the closure of civic space in Venezuela and the importance of restoring it for the exercise of democracy.
The campaign, in Spanish only, included a series of visuals and a call to government authorities, the National Electoral Council and political groups involved in the electoral campaign to ensure that the rights to freedom of expression and information, freedom of association and the right to peaceful protest, fundamental democratic principles that nourish civic space, are respected during the electoral process.
