(MFWA/IFEX) – On 5 May 2007, armed men broke into the offices of the pro-government daily “Le Matin” and made off with cash and various documents. They also stole some of the paper’s equipment.
An MFWA correspondent reported that the men stole 3.5 million FCFA (approx. US$7,270), a television set, four cameras, and several dictaphones.
The offices’ security guard, Tra Bi Roland, was locked in a washroom during the robbery but told MFWA that the assailants were in military uniform and armed with AK47 rifles and pistols.
Abidjan police have begun an investigation into the robbery.
