AS MUCH FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION AS YOU CAN HANDLE…ON THE NEW ARTICLE 19 WEBSITE
ARTICLE 19, the Global Campaign for Free Expression, has a new website: www.article19.org. Easy to navigate and fully searchable, the site includes hundreds of documents and links covering freedom of expression issues across the world.
Andrew Puddephatt, Executive Director of ARTICLE 19 said:
“We want the site to help us interact with our colleagues and supporters across the world – to be a constantly evolving and improving resource. We invite comments and suggestions so that we can make it as useful as possible.”
Among the resources offered on the new site are:
* 259 of ARTICLE 19’s publications, including country reports, thematic papers, submissions to governments and international bodies, and legal analyses.
* Links to 122 other websites, including NGOs, IGOs and publications. If you can’t find the information you want on our site, we’ll point you in the right direction.
* 99 briefs, covering all the freedom of expression cases heard in international courts since 1993 – the virtual Freedom of Expression Handbook. Invaluable resource giving comparative international jurisprudence. Searchable on issues, legal tests and penalties applied. Issues include freedom of information, public order and national security.
* 100 ARTICLE 19 press releases. All the cases and news on freedom of expression from ARTICLE 19, with the latest appearing on the front page.
* On-line registration and donation. Soon on-line payment will be possible too.
Future plans include introducing site areas in different languages (many publications are already on the site in French) and expanding the Handbook to include landmark cases in national courts.
