(IRFS/IFEX) – “Azadlig” newspaper correspondent Seymur Haziyev has told IRFS that an attempt was made to push him in front of a train in a metro station.
“Yesterday (24 October) at around 3:00 p.m. I entered Elmler Akademiyasi metro station,” said Haziyev. “At that moment I noticed that someone in a yellow jacket was following me. I had seen that person several times before. I saw this person signal to someone while I was waiting for a train in ’28 May’ metro station. A person that was in sports dress threw himself on me. He wanted to throw me in between two trains. If I was not fast enough to move away, he would have thrown me in between the two trains. Although I wanted to inform police about the incident, I did not say anything when I saw them running away.”
Haziyev said he will think about appealing to the authorities about the incident. “Up to now, whenever we appealed to them we had headaches. If the law-enforcement agencies are concerned about the incident, I will assist them,” according to Haziyev.
IRFS has started to investigate the incident. Given that video cameras operate in Baku metro stations, IRFS has sent an information inquiry to Metro Chief Tagi Ahmadov. IRFS asked whether the video recordings were watched and also asked to receive a copy of the recording from 24 October between 3:00 and 3:30 p.m.
