(RSF/IFEX) – On 17 November 1997, a bomb destroyed the vehicle of
Goran Matrak, editor-in-chief of the daily “Glas Srpski”, close
to nationalist authorities in Pale and openly hostile to
President Biljana Plavsic, who is supported by the international
community. The bombing occurred in Banja Luka, Republika Srpska.
In addition to destroying Matrak’s car, the bomb also broke the
windows of several adjacent buildings. Nobody was killed in the
attack.
Previously, on 9 October, another bomb attack in Banja Luka had
destroyed a vehicle belonging to Matrak. The attack damaged two
nearby cars as well as the windows of some adjacent buildings.
Those responsible for the attack were not identified.
