(RSF/IFEX) – According to information made available by RSF on 24 August
1998, on 3 August 1998, cameramen Amir Jabari, from the American network
ABC, and Tarek al-Kayal and Mwafaq al-Kayal, both working for the German
television channel ARD, were arrested by Israeli troops in the occupied
sector of Hebron. They were grabbed and roughed up when they tried to enter
the Israeli-controlled zone, where the army had been maintaining a curfew
for a few days. The three men were punched and hit with the butts of
soldiers’ rifles. One of them also had his equipment damaged by civilians.
