(FNJ/IFEX) – Ananta Chalise, a cameraperson with “Image Channel”, and Pradeep Shrestha, a photographer for “Himalaya Times”, a Nepali national newspaper were attacked by members of the All Nepal National Free Student Union-Revolutionary (ANNFSU-R) on 30 November 2006.
FNJ secretary Balram Baniya said the two journalists were at the Public Youth Campus in Kathmandu to report on the attack on the Nepal Students Association (NSA) by the ANNFSU-R. Members of the ANNFSU-R attacked Chalise and threatened him, holding a sword to his neck. They also beat Shrestha and broke his spectacles. Shrestha sustained injuries all over his body.
The FNJ condemns the incident and urges the authorities concerned to take action against the guilty.
