The ruling Cambodia People's Party has imposed arbitrary administrative requirements that are used to stifle opposition and minority party opinions in parliamentary debates, says CCHR.
(CCHR/IFEX) – 28 October 2011 – CCHR today releases the fourth “fact sheet” in its “Institutions Series”, which reviews Cambodian institutions and provides an overview of CCHR’s key concerns and recommendations. This fact sheet focuses on the National Assembly, specifically the internal rules which require members of the National Assembly to sit as groups of ten, effectively denying individual members access to parliamentary debate. The arbitrary administrative requirements have been used to stifle opposition and minority party opinions.
