(RSF/IFEX) – On 10 May 2005, charges against American photographer Brad Clift were dropped. Clift, a photographer for the daily “Hartford Courant”, subsequently left the Darfur town of Nyala and traveled to Khartoum with the aim of catching a flight to London later in the day, according to local sources.
Although he was free to move about in Darfur, since 26 April, Clift had been subject to an order to reside at the premises of the Christian non-governmental organisation Sudan Aid in Nyala pending a possible court appearance. Officially, he was accused of not having the required visa and work permits.
