(MFWA/IFEX) – Sahr Musa Yamba, editor of “Concord Times”, an independent newspaper based in Freetown was arrested on 20 March 2006 by plain-clothed policemen and sent to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the police headquarters.
The policemen gave no explanation for Yamba’s arrest but said they were acting on instructions from the Attorney General’s (AG) Office.
According to Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA)-Sierra Leone’s source, following the arrest Yamba went to the AG’s office to demand an explanation for his brief detention. On reaching there, the AG asked the editor to go home and report to the CID office the following day, 21 March.
