organisation Ukrainian Perspectives, was the victim of an armed attack
outside his home in Kiev. After confirming the identity and position of
Odaritch, an unknown individual fired three shots at the journalist,
wounding his leg. The assailant also reportedly “advised” Odaritch to end
his professional activities and associations.
“Us”, which considers itself a human rights publication, is known for its
critical stance towards authorities, notably Ukraine President Leonid
Kuchma. Odaritch is also the author of various articles on the inadequacies
of the health system in Ukraine.
