Police have yet to determine if the motive behind the shooting of radio blocktimer Apolinario "Jun" Arigo Jr. in the Philippines was personal or work-related.
An unidentified gunman shot and wounded a radio blocktimer in the afternoon of 20 June 2013, in a parking lot near a mall in Cebu City. A blocktimer is an individual who buys “blocks” of radio or television time for a program he then asks individuals or organizations to sponsor.
Cebu City is some 1,080 kilometers south of Metro Manila.
Radio blocktimer Apolinario “Jun” Arigo Jr. was shot once as he was walking to his vehicle in a parking lot near a mall last Thursday afternoon, 20 June 2013. He was rushed to a nearby hospital. A bullet casing has been recovered from the scene.
Arigo hosted the radio blocktime program “Punto de Vista” that aired at dyRF Radyo Fuerza and dyDD El-Nuevo Bantay Radyo. According to representatives from both radio stations, the program only aired during the election season.
The lone gunman was on a motorcycle of unknown color and plate number and was positioned across the street, outside the parking lot, according to the police blotter from Mabolo village police station. The shooter sped away east of the crime scene.
Police have yet to determine if the motive behind the shooting was personal or work-related.
