A recent report shows that France, Italy, Malta, Greece, Cyprus, Sweden, and Finland want to legalise spying on journalists in the event of a threat to national security.
According to the indictment, the charges stem from a 2017 article about the activities of a Finnish military intelligence unit, as well as a planned series of unpublished articles on the same subject.
The year 2018 saw courts handing down convictions for abusive online attacks and campaigns against journalists.
