Of those surveyed for the study, one third were facing claims of between €100,000 and €500,000. One in five journalists who have faced SLAPPs said they would avoid covering similar topics in their future articles.
Titled ‘Political neutrality of state-supported organisations’, the inquiry targets some of the most prominent organisations working in democracy, advocacy, environmental justice, animal rights, and non-profit journalism.
