The arrest of Leo Cárcamo and Elsbeth D’Anda, on top of the disappearance of Fabiola Tercero, demonstrates the escalating repression of independent journalism in Nicaragua.
On November 13, in Geneva, Switzerland, the review and adoption of the recommendations issued to the State of Nicaragua as part of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) will take place.
No one has seen or heard from freelance journalist and feminist activist Fabiola Tercero Castro since 12 July 2024, when she reported a raid on her home by government agents under the command of Commissioner Lidia Baltodano.
