(RSF/IFEX) – Two grenades were thrown by two men on a motorcycle
into the compound of the popular “Koh Santepheap” newspaper at
around 2 am on 15 October 1997. As the first grenade did not
reach the building, the attackers tossed a second grenade over
the wall, which then exploded. No one was injured in the blast,
but the explosion caused serious damage to the walls and windows
in the compound, and to a car parked nearby.
Recommended Action
Send appeals to authorities:
offices of “Koh Santepheap”
for attacks against journalists are identified and punished, and
that these incidents are thoroughly investigated and strongly
sanctioned
flow of information and the safety of journalists in Cambodia
