(RSF/IFEX) – In a letter to Interior Minister Viktor Katan, RSF has
expressed its concern regarding the finding of a grenade in the offices of
the opposition daily “Flux”. The organisation asked to be kept informed of
developments in the investigation of the matter.
On 22 September 1999, the editorial staff of the daily “Flux” discovered a
live grenade in the newspaper’s offices. “Flux” had recently published a
number of articles critical of the government and parliament. According to
the newspaper’s editor-in-chief, Constantin Tanase, the incident is an
intimidation tactic of the State. Tanase also notes that he had received a
number of threatening letters in the weeks preceding this incident.
