(GDF/IFEX) – On 17 August 2000, Svetlana Krasilnikova, assistant editor of the independent newspaper “Delo N”, was hospitalised after an eight-hour interrogation at the Kyrgyz Ministry of National Security (MNS). Krasilnikova, together with “Delo N” editor-in-chief Viktor Zapolskij and journalist Vadim Notchevkin, was summoned to the ministry.
Not long ago, the MNS instituted proceedings against “Delo N” for “divulging state secrets”. “Delo N” had printed the full name of a MNS secret agent in connection with ex-Vice President Felix Kulov.
According to Zapolskij, officer Melisa Abdukhalykova, who interrogated Krasilnikova, did not allow the journalist to eat, drink or use the lavatory. After the interrogation, the 49 year-old Krasilnikova was hospitalised with a diagnosis of heart problems.
