(CJES/IFEX) – Galina Kozhevnikova, deputy director of the information and analytical center Sova, received a threatening e-mail from a nationalist organization. The authors of the letter call on her to stop her anti-fascist activities and to “stop talking.”
“The killings of journalists, lawyers and all kinds of ‘experts’ draw much more public response than the killings of Dagestani or Armenian students,” says the letter, according to “Novaya Gazeta”.
It appears that the authors of the letter were referring to the recent killings of lawyer Stanislav Markelov and journalist Anastasiya Baburova who both worked on nationalist issues.
Kozhevnikova has reported the threats to the law enforcement agencies. It is not yet known whether an investigation has been started or whether a criminal case has been opened.
The analytical center Sova monitors radical nationalist activities, studies ways of curbing them and organizes public debates on these issues.
