(FNJ/IFEX) – Rabindra Singh, a correspondent of Channel Nepal Television, was attacked on 27 April 2007 by security personnel at Manarharwa, a village in Bara, a district in central Nepal.
According to “Kantipur” daily newspaper, Singh was attacked by members of the local police while he was collecting news about the arrest of Babu Thapa, central vice-president of Chure Vavar Yekata Pardesh Samaj, a group demanding a separate federal state in the Chure Bhavar area.
The FNJ has condemned the incident and has urged the group to respect press freedom and allow the free flow of information.
