incommunicado detention of a journalist in Baghdad. According to RSF’s
sources, last month, Dawoud al-Farhan, senior journalist and reporter for
the Cairo-based Middle East News Agency, was arrested at his office and
taken to the Ministry of Information. Every effort by his family to
determine his place of detention and the reason why he was arrested has
failed.
Dawoud al-Farhan regularly publishes columns in the daily “Al-Iraq” and the
weekly “Al-Mousawar Al-Arabi”. He was arrested after writing several
articles about corruption and embezzlement in the government.
