(RSF/IFEX) – RSF is protesting the administrative harassment which
journalist Taoufik Ben Brick, a correspondent of the French daily “La Croix”
and the Tunis-based French press agency SYFIA, has been subjected to. On 28
April 1999, just as he was on his way to Switzerland to attend a conference,
the journalist had his passport confiscated by Tunisian customs officers.
**Updates IFEX alerts of 29 January and 13 January 1999 and 24 June 1998**
In recent months, Ben Brick has been the target of various intimidation
tactics, including anonymous telephone threats, having his telephone and fax
lines cut, police surveillance, having his car vandalised, etc. These
pressures have made it impossible for Ben Brick to carry out his
professional duties in a free and calm fashion.
