(RSF/IFEX) – According to information released by RSF on 20 May 1998, on 5
May 1998, Emmanuel Munyemanzi, head of production services at Rwandan
National Television, disappeared while returning from work. Two months prior
to his disappearance, the journalist was accused of sabotage by the director
of the Rwandan Information Office (Orinfor), following a technical incident
that occurred during the taping of a political debate. Munyemanzi was then
suspended from his duties and transferred to Orinfor’s Studies and
Programmes bureau.
Munyemanzi lived alone with five children. His wife has been in prison since
1994 on charges of genocide.
