Mr. Ahmed was charged with anti-state activities and was put on the ECL in
1995. He campaigned against child labour in Pakistan, particularly in the
carpet industry, and was blamed for a reduction in carpet exports and loss
of revenue.
Mr. Ahmed has filed a writ petition in Lahore High Court (LHC) challenging
the inclusion of his name on the ECL. The writ petition was heard on 03
September and the court has reserved its judgement on the case.
