On Monday 31 December 2001, an unidentified person threatened to kill journalist Sakir Ahmed of Dainik Ittefaq over the phone, for writing a series of reports on the movement of luxury coaches in the city.
The anonymous caller carried out the heinous threat to the daily’s senior reporter at his office on Monday evening. The luxury coaches were removed from the heart of the city to the Sayedabad area as a result of his reporting, the telephone caller claimed.
Mr. Ahmed wrote a series of reports on the illegal movement of luxury coaches inside the city, which caused heavy traffic congestion and increased the suffering of city dwellers.
The journalist lodged a General Diary (GD) with Sutrapur Thana in connection with the case.
The daily Dainik Ittefaq is one of the country’s oldest newspapers. It has a good reputation and the highest circulation.
