(JED/IFEX) – The Kinshasa/Gombe Court sentenced Polycarpe Honsek Hokwoy, publisher of the Kinshasa newspaper “La Solidarité”, to three months’ imprisonment for making “damaging accusations”. Because the journalist had already served more than three months in prison since his arrest on 6 November 1999, he was released on Friday 4 February 2000.
To recall, Honsek was arrested on 6 November because he had falsely announced the arrest of the minister of finance on the front page of his newspaper.
