(RSF/IFEX) – Reporters Without Borders and the Burma Media Association welcome the release on 4 February 2009 of journalists Khin Maung Aye and Htun Htun Thein of the privately-owned weekly “News Watch” after completing the three-month sentence they had received from a Rangoon court for “contempt of court.”
They were arrested in November 2008 for writing about alleged corruption among court officials. At least 14 other journalists are still imprisoned in Burma.
