According to Sirohiya, the group entered the premises and destroyed about two dozen vehicles parked inside the office’s compound as well as some equipment, including computers. The motive for the attack remains unknown.

A riot broke out in Kathmandu after the 30 August killing of 12 Nepalese hostages by a radical Muslim group in Iraq. The Nepalese nationals were taken hostage on 20 August. The government declared a curfew in Kathmandu, starting on the afternoon of 31 August and in effect for an indefinite period.
