Ken Saro-Wiwa’s lawyers report that they were attacked in court
after the case against him resumed on 21 February 1995. They say
the court was surrounded by military personnel who were screening
people who entered the court. They reportedly refused to permit
journalists from opposition publications “Tell” and “The News”
to enter the court. When the defence lawyers protested this, they
were allegedly assaulted by military officers.
The case against Ken Saro-Wiwa has been adjourned until 27
February 1995 after the defence reportedly filed a motion
questioning the competence of the Special Tribunal to try this
case.
