Journalist Tetee Gebro, formerly of the Sky Communications Corporation, has raised alarm that state sponsored assassins are out for her. She made the allegation as a formal complaint to the Press Union of Liberia (PUL).

She says that the head of the National Security Agency (NSA), Fumba Sirleaf (the son of the president), and police boss Abraham Koroma are behind the threat to her life.
In a letter addressed to PUL Secretary General Kaihenneh Sengbeh, dated 4 December 2014, Gebro said that she is being considered a threat to the senatorial bid of Mr. Robert Sirleaf, who is the son of the president and brother of the NSA boss.
Gebro – a popular talk-show host – had resigned as a result of what she called dissimilar views with Sky FM management. She said, “today [Dec. 4] I got information again from a reliable source that NSA Director Fumba Sirleaf and LNP Director Chris Massaquoi consider me to be a threat to Mr. Robert Sirleaf’s ascendancy to the legislature.”
Gebro further stated, “My very reliable source, choosing to remain anonymous for fear of repression, said that the two top security bosses have already posted people to murder me under the pretext of my being attacked by armed robbers.”
It is recalled that about a year ago, the Liberia National Police (LNP) – represented by Col. Joseph B. Flomo, Commission, and the Crime Services Department – summoned journalists Tetee Gebro and Robert Clarke, talk show hosts of the early morning magazine program, “Just Another Day.” They were then issued a letter asking them to appear at the headquarters of the LNP on August 1, 2013.
According to the police, the journalists were “in possession of a dossier of sensitive confidential documents belonging to the LNP”. The accused security bosses are yet to respond to Tetee Gebro’s allegation.
The Center for Media Studies and Peacebuilding (CEMESP) is disturbed by the news of the alleged covert murder plan of the female journalist by officers of the Liberian security apparatus and urges the PUL to look into the matter carefully.
