Mohamed Bangura, one of the four journalists from “The New Breed”
charged with sedition, was released on health grounds on 16
January 1995. The prosecutor entered a “nolle prosequi” — in
other words the case against him will not proceed although it may
be revived at a later date.
The remaining three journalists — Julius Spencer, Donald John
and Alfred Conteh — and their printer, Abdul Bashiru Alusine
Kargbo, director of the Atlantic Printing House, were released on
bail on 19 January.
Recommended Action
Send appeals to the authorities below:
of Mohamed Bangura and the release of the other four accused on
bail;
against all five.
