Tony Abide, a correspondent for the Daily Trust newspaper, went into hiding after receiving text messages and phone calls saying that he would be gunned down before 25 December 2013.
Mr. Tony Adibe, the Enugu State correspondent for the Daily Trust newspaper has gone into hiding following threats to his life.
Adibe said he has been receiving calls and SMS text messages from an unknown person since 9 December 2013, threatening to gun him down before 25 December 2013.
He said the person placed several calls to him on 10 December 2013 from two numbers, 08183916346 and 08146672468, during which he repeated the threat and warned him that before the end of that week, he (Adibe) would see signs that the caller was serious.
Adibe recalled that three days after the call, his three-bedroom apartment in Enugu was burgled and his Sony Camera, Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) ATM card, and his wife’s jewelry were stolen.
