Journalist Aurengzeb Tunio's colleagues allege that the attacks were retaliation for his reporting, which had angered certain local tribal groups.

(IFJ/IFEX) – May 11, 2012 – The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) joins its affiliate the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) in condemning the attack by armed persons on the local office of leading Pakistan television channel Kawaish Television Network (KTN) in Lalu Ranwak Village, in the country’s Qambar District, on May 11, 2012.
According to a PFUJ report, the attack resulted in the murder of a local journalist, Aurengzeb Tunio, his brother Rustom Tunio and their friend Deedar Khaskheli.
Aurengzeb’s colleagues allege that the attacks were retaliation for his reporting, which had angered certain local tribal groups.
Police are currently investigating the murders.
On World Press Freedom Day 2012, the PFUJ in partnership with the IFJ released four mission reports on some of the most dangerous and under-reported provinces for journalists in the Pakistan – Balochistan, Interior Sindh, the Khyber-FATA region and Punjab.
Pakistan is currently ranked as the most dangerous country in which to work as a journalist.
