(CEMESP/IFEX) – 25 November 2011 – The names of some Liberian media houses and personalities have been noted on a blacklist clandestinely disseminated in a newsletter that was purportedly put together and circulated by the opposition political party Congress for Democratic Change (CDC).
According to the “New Dawn” newspaper in its vol. 2 no. 206, 25 November edition, the following media outlets have been singled out for harm on the so-called blacklist: Truth FM, Real TV, The Liberia Broadcasting System, “New Democrat” newspaper, “Daily Observer” newspaper, “Inquirer” newspaper, “Frontpage Africa” newspaper, “Parrot” newspaper and Hot FM. In the words of the blacklist compilers, these media outlets constitute an “axis of evil”, reports the “New Dawn”, who claims it is also included on the blacklist attributed to the CDC.
The owner of Renaissance Communication, Musa Bility, is allegedly also on the list, as is Patrick Honna, presenter of the Truth FM breakfast show. Renaissance Communication owns Real TV and Truth FM radio.
It has been suggested that the blacklist was compiled by the opposition party in furtherance of its protest reaction to the alleged police killing of some of their partisans on the eve of the 8 November run off boycott procession.

So far there has been no reaction from the CDC to repudiate the blacklist.
