Mujeeb Tareen, a reporter for the Aaj News television channel, was attacked by three armed men after reporting on a police raid at a car showroom.

Mujeeb Tareen, a reporter for the Aaj News television channel, was attacked by three armed men on the night of 6 October 2016, in the town of Pishin in Balochistan province.
According to Tareen, he was working in his office when the accused Abdullah who had a metal clip and two other individuals armed with knives entered and struck him several times with these weapons. He was seriously injured in the attack and required 14 stitches to his chin, ear, neck and arms. He is now stable and has been discharged from the hospital.
Two attackers managed to flee on the arrival of Tareen’s neighbors but Abdullah was apprehended and handed over to the police.
Talking to Pakistan Press Foundation, Mujeeb Ahmed, Bureau chief of Aaj News Quetta, said Tareen was attacked for breaking a news story on Aaj News three days earlier, about a police raid at a car showroom that had been selling smuggled vehicles.
Police have registered the criminal complaint (FIR) of the incident.
