(RSF/IFEX) – According to information released by RSF on 4 May 1998, the
arabic edition of the independent weekly “Le Calame” has been censored.
Copies of the paper were held in the Ministry of the Interior for a week
before it was declared on 30 April that they were not allowed to be sold.
The authorities have not given any indication why such a measure was taken.
RSF notes that this is the third time “Le Calme” has been banned since the
beginning of the year.
