Danylo Pavlov was attacked by two unidentified individuals while he was taking photographs for a news story.
(IMI/IFEX) – In Donetsk, Danylo Pavlov, 22, a photographer for the “Donetskie Novosti” regional newspaper, was attacked by two unidentified individuals, according to the UNIAN news agency and the Telekrytyka media watchdog.
The journalist and two of his colleagues were on assignment taking photographs of a stall where herbal smoking blends are sold when two men approached them and demanded that they had over their camera. “Speaking roughly, they threatened me and tried to grab my camera,” Pavlov said. In an attempt to appease his assailants and keep his camera intact, Pavlov erased all the photographs he had taken. The men, however, kept threatening him, so he gave them the memory card from the camera. He noted that the men tried to provoke a fight by pushing and elbowing him, but Pavlov did not react and instead held on firmly to his camera. “They wanted a scuffle, but it did not work,” Pavlov said.
The journalist filed a complaint regarding the incident at the Kalininsky district police station.
