(RSF/IFEX) – RSF is protesting the banning of programmes of a political
nature on Radio Soleil. According to RSF’s information, the National
Communications Council (Conseil national de la communication) banned the
programmes of the private radio station Radio Soleil, in its decision
number
002/99/CNC. The justification offered for the decision was the “the
extreme
character of remarks about the President of the Republic” expressed by
listeners during the live programme Feed back. The decision specifies
the
banning of this programme, as of 26 February 1999, and the “banning of
all
programmes of a political nature.”
Recommended Action
Send appeals to the President of the CNC:
