Radio du Peuple Oïcha was allowed to resume its broadcasts following a meeting of the provincial security council.
(JED/IFEX) – JED is relieved to learn that Radio du Peuple Oïcha, a community radio station operating in Beni, North Kivu province, eastern DR Congo, was allowed back on the air on 8 February 2011.
According to information received by JED, the radio station was allowed to resume its broadcasts following a meeting of the provincial security council on 8 February.
Radio du Peuple Oïcha was closed on 3 February 2011 on the orders of the deputy administrator of the territory following the 2 February broadcast of a phone-in programme about the security situation in Beni.
