equipment confiscated from the community radio stations FM Del
Sol 98.1, FM Ilusiones 98.5 and four other stations after they
found that there was no case against them. The radio stations
resumed broadcasting on 14 October 1997.

Background Information
In the middle of August 1997, low frequency radios community
radio stations that broadcast on 98Mhz were shut down after
police broke into the offices of the stations. The action was
taken following a criminal complaint lodged by the Vottionis
company, owned by journalist Daniel Haddad. The company manages
the radio station FM News which broadcasts on the 98.3 frequency.
Before the criminal complaint, Vottionis had issued warnings to
the community radio stations, claiming police powers to have them
shut down.
FM Ilusiones and FM Del Sol have broadcast for nine years with a
provisional permit granted by the Federal Broadcasting Authority.
