(RSF/IFEX) – On 7 September 1998, RSF protested the forcible entry into the
offices of the magazine “La Rue Meurt”. According to RSF, on 5 September at
4 a.m. (local time), a group of armed men in uniform entered the offices of
the privately-owned weekly “La Rue Meurt” after sealing off the area, and
removed the magazine’s computer equipment. The police were informed of the
action by the [military] captain of the district. Authorities offered no
explanation.

Send appeals to the president
Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the African Charter, Articles 19
and 9 (respectively) of which guarantee freedom of expression and information
magazine and that those responsible for this act be identified and punished
