(IPYS/IFEX) – On 31 October 1997, journalist Cesar Hildebrant
reported on the theft of computer hard drives from the MCC
Computer company that allow “En Persona”, the opposition
investigative television program directed by Hildebrant, to be
seen and heard around the world via the Internet.
Police investigating the case concurred with the head of the
computer company that the theft was highly unusual and appeared
to have been done by the National Intelligence Service, “since
the only things taken away were those which affected the
television program.” The police added that the thieves left
without a trace.
The theft resulted in the loss of important information
concerning more than 600 complaints by the public that had been
sent to the Web site (http://www.mcc.com.pe/real/enpersona).
