The trial of “Feral Tribune” editor-in-chief Viktor Ivancic and
reporter Marinko Culic has been unexpectedly adjourned until 25
September 1996. After reading the indictment and the opening
defence statements, the judge adjourned the trial, saying that he
recognised the need to call new witnesses. The move was hailed by
observers as a victory for the defence and a response to the
international outcry over President Franjo Tudjman’s efforts to
muzzle the Croatian independent media.
