(RSF/IFEX) – RSF is protesting the suspension of two weeklies, “Shalamcheh”
and “Fakour”, after convictions by the Press Court in Tehran.
According to RSF’s information, the hard-line weekly “Shalamcheh” has been
suspended for publishing information regarding the relationship between the
late Ayatollah Abolqassam al-Khoei and the Shah’s secret police. Moreover,
the publishing licence of the moderate weekly “Fakour” has been revoked.
Recommended Action
Send appeals to the President:
violation
of the right to free information, as established in Article 19 of the
International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which has been signed
and ratified by Iran

the press and to order the resumption of these publications
