Sierra Leonean journalist Chernoh Alpha Bah has faced an onslaught of online harassment and death threats over the last 4 years.
Mohamed Morlu has been awarded $25,000 as compensation for injuries he sustained during a police crackdown on demonstrating students in March 2017.
In its assessment of Sierra Leone’s media freedom landscape, the Media Foundation for West Africa zones in on the legal framework – in particular the passing of the contentious Cyber Security and Crimes Act and the continued absence of a data protection law.
