(Adil Soz/IFEX) – On the night of 7-8 July 2006, unknown individuals broke into the offices of the website http://www.dialog.kz. They stole three computers and a printer, leaving other equipment and valuables untouched. The intruders entered the premises through a window.
Police have launched a criminal investigation into the attack.
Website project director Zhanibek Suleyev did not rule out the possibility that the attack was related to the website’s activities, because only those computers on which all the vital information was stored were stolen.
The website staff plans to conduct its own investigation.
Yelena Malygina from Adil Soz said: “As no other valuables were taken, there is reason to believe the attack is politicized. Furthermore, hard disks on the computers stolen contained information that might be interesting for particular political circles.”
