Over the last 18 months, PEN Canada has been trying to clarify how the Canada Revenue Agency defines political activity through a series of Access to Information requests.
In January 2013, we filed an Access to Information request asking for documents about letters sent to registered charities reminding them about limitations on political activity. We thought our request was reasonable, and that we’d receive information in 30 days, the legislated time frame for responding to Access to Information requests.
